Botting

Botting is a practice on RationalWiki, so as to avoid "clogging recent changes" (because enhanced recent changes is for irrational creation scientists). There are two types of botting, which we will call old-style and new style.^[1] They are not to be confused with RW's actual bots.

[edit] Old Style

Making a sock account and marking it as a bot. This has been depreciated after the formation of the Ninja user group. None of these bots have more than a thousand edits, and most are no longer used.

Ninjas can mark themselves as a bot. This is/was most used by Blue, Dalek, Onion, Sprocket J Cogswell, Thunderkatz, and Ty. Note that occasionally they forget to unbot themselves. Dalek once botted himself for 2 weeks, forgetting to unbot until he read this article.
