Arthropleura, formerly known as Arthropleurus and ConservapediaUndergroundResistor, and often referred to as "CUR," and after his renaming "Arthur," is an animal-loving, prudish, and rather erratic editor, who has stirred up several arguments since registering at RW.

[edit] Early history
He created an article about the rusty-spotted cat, apparently his favourite cat species. This does not fit into RationalWiki's established missions, and provoked instant squabbling.[5] CUR's reaction was to propose that RW should broaden its purpose and missions to accommodate his article.[6]
Shortly afterwards, he attempted to get Weaseloid banned from RationalWiki,[7] apparently for "rude humour" and his appropriation of the rusty-spotted cat picture for lolcat purposes, something which CUR continued to bicker with him about, although he eventually gave it up.[8] This behaviour provoked mixed reactions of outrage and amusement from other RationalWikians.[9]
CUR is relatively new to the finer technical points of wiki-editing and HTML use. A discrepancy regarding the size of his signature in his chosen font, and the corresponding size it appears in standard formatting when viewed on a computer without this font, prompted Human to edit war with CUR over his signature page (thus breaking the community rule against editing another's user space), each repeatedly changing the font size until CUR agreed to keep it small.
More recently, he began a prolonged edit-war with several users over the inclusion of copyright images from a television show in his userboxen. By the end of the evening Human, who may have been drinking, was resorting to calling ConservapediaUndergroundResistor a variety of ugly names centered around the canine acronym formed by CUR's initials as well as terms denoting female genitalia (i.e. "twat"). Perhaps more disturbingly, Human has resorted to, ummm, de-humanizing CUR by referring to him as "it."
CUR craves attention, and seems to expect talk page comments to be answered immediately. He also appears to relish conflicts, which he calls "debate", and is bored when when nobody is arguing against him. As well as clashes with Weaseloid, Human, π, TheoryOfPractice, Toast and others, he has edit warred with Radioactive afikomen and provoked this and subsequent discussion. (His presence, however, was not apparent shortly after the commencement of the row.) He expressed sadness at being unable to debate Fall down at RW, so came to this very site to pick a fight start a debate.
He has a long standing animosity towards Fall down,[10] whom he enjoys blocking, insulting, and wiki-attacking.[11] Neither of them have managed to get very far - CUR can revert Fall down's edits faster than Fall down can make edits, and Fall down uses TOR and can't be blocked. A holy jihad between two equally impotent matched forces, neither of which will call a stalemate.[12]
CUR has been demoted to sysop[13] (what has the world come to?), and started engaging in petty block wars.
On 27 January 2009 CUR announced a "Fresh start" on the Saloon bar, promising to reform his ways.[14] He then continued to edit war, mainly over content in the Therian article he viewed as offensive, prompting Human to threaten him with promotion.[15] The case was taken to the Administrative Abuse desk, and resulted in him being put on parole, under terms suggested by CPAdmin1.[16] He is "eternally grateful to him"[17] for "aiding him", although it is unlikely the outcome would have been any different without CPAdmin1's intervention.[18] The threat of losing his blocking powerz was effective, as he has stopped his disruptive behaviour and despite his many faults, appears to be adjusting to RationalWiki.
He recently started creating socks, including one named 'Fall Sideways,' a parody of Fall down.[19][20][21][22][23] Unlike other sockmasters however, he immediately announced his sockpuppetry[24][25][26][27][28] and has not used his socks so far.[29][30][31][32][33]
On March 1, 2009, for a brief moment in time, the entire world seemed to turn upside down as mountains fell into the sea and great volcanos rose from the dust! CUR had been given bureaucrat rights by Phantom Hoover.[13] But to the relief of the entire world, CUR was truthful in his promise of promoting himself back to a sysop were someone every foolish enough to 'crat him. His comment "power corrupts" will be forever remembered as a moment when RationalWiki, and the world, stood still.
(Un)fortunately, on March 2, 2009 CUR blocked himself for 1.4*1032 years, so when it expires the only objects left in the universe will be the burnt-out remains of stars[34], however blocks of such ridiculously long lengths don't work and he is able to continue editing even without unblocking himself.
[edit] April the 1st and all that
On the 1st of April 2009 Tmtoulouse announced his retirement to get in touch with his spiritual side. This caused some editors to join him in "coming out" as closet Christians and others to "blame" CUR for driving Trent off the wiki. It is difficult to know how many wrote in jest and how many were serious.
Largely as a consequence of this On April 2, 2009 CUR announced he was going to his room and wouldn't be coming out, citing being flamed, blamed and shamed for everything he did. When nobody seemed to notice he used the intercom to shout downstairs so that people would know he was really in his room. Icewedge[35] and Phantom Hoover[36] both expressed regret at his treatment, while Toast and Ace McWicked rejoiced[Evidence needed].
Subsequently, realising how quiet it was in his room, he came back downstairs and announced that his departure should be retrospectively re-interpreted as an April Fools joke. This change of heart was not greeted with much enthusiasm by the rest of the family. In any event, the timing of the retrospectively identified joke was a little off as April Fools' Day ends on April 1st, rather than at half past nine on April 2nd.
[edit] The Otter Incident
Dateline: April 2009
Despite the issues surrounding CUR and his love of Felidae he continued raising tensions by writing another animal-based article, on the Sea Otter. He wished it to be moved to the mainspace soon [37]. Ace McWicked (like a cheetah/wolf) pounced on the talk page and stated he feared another Rusty Spotted Cat incident was in the making [38]. A few days later this happened again, with CUR asking for it to be moved into mainspace, and also slapping a Best of Science category on it. Voices of dissent were immediately raised, throwing RationalWiki into typical anti-CUR outrage. Curiously Human was absent from this. CUR, however, seemed completely immune and claimed once again that RationalWiki should broaden itself and that there was something about evolution in the article. When challenged that his Otter article was off-mission he began deleting pages left, right and centre that he decided were off-misson. He was pleaded with on his own talk page by Ace McWicked[39], who promptly blocked himself stating he was fucked off at CUR. CUR, sensing his moment was at hand, created an Acequote, using the typical foul langauge Ace is known to use. Ace unblocked himself, completely lost the plot, blocked CUR and deleted the offending page before continuing his tirade against CUR with SirChuckB trying to be reasonable[40] and TheoryOfPractice exhibiting his usual flair for dramatics[41]. Publius - pragmatic as always - arrived and asked everyone to just ignore him[42] but, of course, by this stage, all of RationalWiki was ablaze with CURitis. Things finally calmed down - CUR may have been asleep, curled up by the fire perhaps - when Human appeared and complained his computer had been broken for the last 12 hours. When he saw the damage CUR had once again caused he also flipped and left an angry message[43] on CUR's talkpage and immediately promoted him. For the time being things have calmed....but for how long?
Shortly after the Otter Incident, CUR claimed he was "going to join Anonymous."[44]
[edit] Attempted Retirement
Around April, CUR made several comments on a blog belonging to a certain Jill Stanek, which several prominent RWians thought reflected poorly upon the wiki.[45] With RW PR in mind,[Evidence needed] Human desysopped him for this.[46] After taking Human to Admin Abuse,[47] CUR attempted to retire from RationalWiki, but kept editing here. After being harassed by a BoN (possibly Jinx),[Evidence needed] a comment by KrissAkabusiAwoogar about deleting the Felidae article caused CUR to come back.[48] Since then, he has not left to finish his wiki-break, and probably won't.
[edit] Renaming
On April 24, 2009, Π renamed ConservapediaUndergroundResistor to "Arthropleurus."[49] Four days after that, he renamed Arthropleurus (a meaningless term) to Arthropleura (the name of a very nasty millipede[50]).[51]
[edit] Another retirement
On June 16, 2009, Arthropleura retired again,[52] this time saying that RationalWiki was a "cliche" and that most of the main body of users was antitheistic, and blasting the Wiki for being too much like Richard Dawkins.
