A fairly standard EvoWiki "creationist claim" page, Complex specified information indicates design.

EvoWiki is part of the RationalWiki Foundation's expanding empire of mediawiki-based websites.

That is to say, it's an old wiki devoted to the subject of evolution (and attacks on it), which died some years ago and was given to Trent around November 2010.[1] The original authors[2] left long ago - and as of January 2012 nobody has edited the wiki for months. However, the wiki remains open to public viewing.

[edit] Style and content

Your typical EvoWiki article is very dry, encyclopaedic and increasingly out of date. EvoWiki contains a number of encyclopaedia projects, such as the Encyclopedia of Anatomy and Physiology. Many of these projects contain large numbers of red links and Edstubs.[3]

The wiki contains a very large compilation of logical fallacies and refutations of creationist claims. However, the formatting and titling of the latter is in a very different style to that of RationalWiki - they tend to give the claim, then sources, and finally a list of short refutations.

The previous owner of the Wiki did not provide Trent with the image database for the wiki - thus, almost all of them are missing.[1]

[edit] Relationship with RationalWiki

The wiki is now owned by the Foundation. It is no longer possible to make an account on the site - "curator" status must be asked of Trent at the project page. These curators are supposed to "do minor corrections, layout changes and to attempt to rebuild the image database", rather than return the site to its former glory.[1] Not that anyone has taken him up on this offer lately.

Some articles from EvoWiki are supposed to be ported to RationalWiki. However, due to the aforementioned style issues, past porting has caused problems.[4] It was suggested that some articles from EvoWiki would be included in a proposed reference/source namespace, on the grounds that they would fit there better than in the mainspace, but would nevertheless be useful to have.

The current logo of the wiki is in the same style as RationalWiki - in this case, a fossil inside the double brakets that in the RW logo surround the brain. The favicon of the website is the same as that of RW.

The interwiki link style [[Evowiki:<article name>]] links to Evowiki articles from RationalWiki.
