RationalWikiWiki:Essay:RationalWiki Liberty Confederation

From RationalWikiWiki

Jump to: navigation, search

The RationalWiki Liberty Confederation is a RationalWikian dissident movement determined to abolish the moderation system, which has concentrated political power on the wiki in the hands of extravagantly imprudent oligarchs AD and Blue. It is led by MarcusCicero, a political exile who had the audacity to criticise the new institution and called instead for freedom of expression, free assembly, and the retention of all of the old liberties RationalWikians had long taken for granted.

The Confederation is an underground movement and by necessity the details of its membership is limited. It is believed that there are at least seven fully signed up members of the confederacy, with another four or five highly sympathetic to the stated aims.

[edit] Modus operandi

The moderation system was established following a brief period of unrest in which those who were outside looking in on a well-functioning anarcho-syndicalist collective agitated for a new power structure on the pretense of preventing HCM (the term itself is a political dog whistle heard most loudly by the targets of the agitators' hatred - those who by their own merit were viewed respected and admired by the mobocracy, a thing the kleptocrats could never cotton to). The coup had the clear aim of crushing prior instrumentalities of prestige and power, notwithstanding the absence of any formal class system, and finally destroying all vestiges of the old Mobocracy, the ancient and powerful governmental structure of the formerly great RationalWikian community.

In order to highlight the reality that this new institution is in fact a shameless power grab by certain egomaniacs, the Confederacy has determined to maintain resistance at all levels. Instead of complying with the new artificial 'order' imposed by this oligarchy, the confederacy has instead determined to maintain the same levels of disruption that so characterised the tragedy - and the greatness - that made RationalWiki the site it once was. All members of the Confederacy are undercover and many maintain their old facade, pretending to abhor the high levels of HCM and going overboard in trying to quell the disruption. This only serves to highlight the inherent violence in the system, as it is now acceptable to block, delete and silence anyone who has the gall to speak freely or speak truth to power. Some members of the confederacy even voted to expel MarcusCicero, but have since found the error of their ways. The Confederacy will teach the consequences of their errors to those who haven't come around to showing an honest respect for justice, rather than playing on a mob's hysteria and lust for blood and drama.

The Confederacy has excelled in creating stunts like these. The overarching objective is to keep RationalWiki the same as it ever was; driven by interpersonal conflicts and rivalries, petty emotionalism, and the maintainance of long standing grudges. MarcusCicero believes that these disruptions help generate ideas, because, as he states Though sometimes it creates more heat than light, HCM generates interesting and useful ideas that add to the overall sum total of human knowledge. It is believed that RationalWiki in its old form is an idea worth preserving and fighting for.

[edit] Future Strategy

The Confederacy is tolerated on RationalWikiWiki (an offshoot of RationalWiki proper, where the freedom to speak freely is guaranteed by its liberal and munificent owner, Gooniepunk2010), and many of the confederates are active members there. It is believed that once MarcusCicero's novel is published and disseminated amongst the RationalWikian masses, the members of the Confederacy will reveal themselves, force the abolition of the moderators, and march the oligarchs to the gallows. Once the masses become self aware and realise the destiny they have binded themselves to, they will revert to the ancient mobocracy which was such a resounding success.
